Silhouette - Custom-made Holmegaard glass art
Enjoy the essence of modern elegance and timeless beauty. With the sculptural glass series Silhouette created in collaboration with Soeren Le Schmidt, Holmegaard's 200th anniversary is celebrated with an exclusive anniversary collection that exceptionally unites the creativity of one of the greatest Danish fashion designers of our time with Holmegaard's classic glass art.

From tactile textiles to glowing glass
A passionate pioneer with a heart of fire.
Since 1825, Holmegaard has challenged the potential of glass with a focus on craftsmanship of the highest quality and created a long list of iconic design classics that have defined Danish glass history. The Silhouette series is a unique and outstanding display of 200 years of glass equilibria. But at the same time a trend-setting story about the fusion of fashion and fine glass art – bespoke glass art that translates Soeren Le Schmidt’s design principles from tactile textiles to glowing glass in a process that is both challenging and inspiring.
“In fashion, I use sharp cuts, asymmetry and sculptural silhouettes to shape the body. With the Silhouette series, I have extended the same principles to glass; a living material that is shaped through heat and gravity. Silhouette is thus a fusion of the detailed design language of the fashion tailor and the ancient techniques of glass craftsmanship. A place where art, design and craftsmanship merge into something new and timeless,” explains Soeren Le Schmidt.

The fashion designer’s architectural language translated into spectacular glass art
True to his graphic-sculptural DNA and guided by Holmegaard’s centuries of know-how, Soeren Le Schmidt explores and challenges the potential of glass and has, with Silhouette, created three glamorous statement pieces that translate the designer’s architectural language into spectacular glass art.
Visual anatomy and three-dimensional draping
With a background in classical tailoring and as the creator of iconic moments on the catwalk and red carpet, Soeren Le Schmidt is used to working all around the body. A 360-degree perspective that has given him an intuitive understanding of the glass’s volume and character and, in collaboration with Holmegaard’s glass experts, has enabled the design of the three parts of the Silhouette series in an advanced dialogue between structure and movement. Both the bowl, vase, and centerpiece are born of soft, almost fluid curves that, like a three-dimensional draping, tailor the glass to catch and reflect light in their monumental silhouettes. The series is an invitation to start conversations, explore the beauty in imperfection, and bring a touch of elegance and art into everyday life. It is proof that Holmegaard is in constant dialogue with the spirit of the times and, after 200 years, still a passionate pioneer and uncompromising innovator of glass craftsmanship.
Silhouette is not just glass design but an artistic statement in three unique acts – bowl, vase, and centerpiece. And with only 200 numbered pieces of each, they are all coveted collector’s items.
We preserve and develop Danish design icons so that both present and future products can be part of the brands that have helped create our Danish design culture.
