Soma means “body” in Greek. And it is precisely the body and its imperfect perfection that this vase series is shaped by. Not as a fixed template, but as a fluid state. As something that moves and transforms. This is reflected in the contrast between inside and outside, between collar and body, which meet beautifully and elegantly in their glossy surfaces and, in an almost magical, flowing and floating state, wrap around one another. As a sensuous echo of Holmegaard’s design heritage, the vase’s collar is a discreet nod to the glassworks’ characteristic design language – and at the same time a modern reinterpretation that connects to one of today’s biggest interior trends: intense use of colour in the home.
